Welcome to SunWest Swimming. We are a year round swim program affiliated with USA swimming. The coaches are certified with USA swimming, CPR, First Aid and have had background checks.
Our main goal is to teach the fundamentals and great technique to all the swimmers. Each group builds on the next. We want to make swimming fun and a learning situation.

Schedule
Olympic Way 4-5 Tuesday/Thursday
Bronze 4-5 pm Mon – Thursday (3 days a week )
Silver 5-6:30pm Mon – Thursday, Friday 4-5:30pm
Gold 5-7pm Mon- Thursday, Friday 4-5:30 pm

With regards to the schedule: I am very flexible. I am there from 4-7pm daily. If you need to come 4:30-5:30 M-T –TH, that’s okay. I know most of you are Human taxi cabs, so I try to be very flexible with the schedule. My assistant coach is there from 4-6 daily so she helps a lot with the younger swimmers that need more attention. I also try and send a weekly email with any schedule changes.

The more your kids swim the better they will get. Once a week is fine, but do not expect great returns on your investment. I am not demanding and don’t have a percentage I expect to see them. It’s up to you and your swimmer.

Requirements:
To swim with SunWest, you do not need to be an accomplished swimmer. If you are safe and can make it across the pool with some style and form our job is to do the rest. I enjoy teaching and making the kids into swimmers that beautiful to watch with great technique.

Swim Meets:
We try and schedule about 2 swim meets a month, they are optional, but highly suggested. Racing makes all those laps worth while. Usually they are very local; Phoenix, Scottsdale and they are on the weekends. Very inexpensive, $3 per event and a $5 splash charge. Suits, goggles,

Equipment:
We have a team suit. Each swimmer needs their own goggles and suit (obviously). We have kickboards and some pull buoys. Please provide water for your swimmer, very important in AZ. I suggest SKIPRO for swim stuff (16th Street/ Camelback ).

Payments:
Payments are due monthly and I would like them on auto-pay which is included in the registration packet. The $30 is a one time fee; $59 is a yearly fee to be with USA Swimming (insurance and liabilities).
Checks are made out to SunWest Swimming.

Olympic Way (OW):
Ages 5—10

This program is participation based, for swimmers with little or no competitive experience. Emphasis is on the four basic strokes, starts, and turns. It is a highly structured, progressive system of introducing novice swimmers to the sport of swim racing. By combining skill and endurance training the young athlete learns the new regimen, language, and joy of the sport of swim racing in an exciting and challenging environment based on individual achievement.

The Olympic Way is a stepping-stone. When either the Bronze or Silver standards are achieved the swimmer is promoted to that respective group or may choose to use his/her new skills, endurance, and strength in another youth sport.

Gold (G)

This program is commitment based. The program design is for those athletes who focus their major athletic attention on swimming. It is geared towards preparing swimmers to compete nationally within their respective age groups.
